Does short term mission actually help anyone?

Yes! NZCMS takes a long term view of short term mission. Our Encounter teams and Haerenga gap year programmes are designed carefully with sustainability in mind.

Some of the benefits of short term opportunities are:

• A larger view of God’s work in the world
• A focus on learning and engaging with rather than ‘fixing’ an aspect of another culture
• Relationships and partnerships are created and deepened between different churches around the world
• Seeds are planted for long term mission service. Statistics show that 30% of short termers will return to the mission field at some point
• Building the faith of both the team member and those who support the team
